Biofeedback uses mind/body connection through visual or auditory feedback to teach people how to improve their performance or overall health. Biofeedback uses special sensors and a computer to indicate how a muscle is working. In pelvic health, biofeedback is used to help with bowl and bladder incontinence or constipation issues. It allows the therapist to tell if the muscles are too tight or loose and how to treat the condition by either strengthening or relaxing muscles. It is a teaching tool that allows the therapist to train the client on how to use the pelvic floor muscles properly.
